Located on 400 acres in Old Texas, Alabama, Murder Creek Embryo Technology School has spent years building the kind of hands-on training environment we wish existed when we were learning.
Murder Creek Embryo Technology School is located on 400 acres of farmland in Old Texas, Alabama. Right here on the property, we've implemented embryo transfer, artificial insemination, and embryo thawing and implantation — the same techniques we teach, we use every day on our own herd.
We've gone to great lengths to make sure our facilities meet exceptional standards. We've invested heavily in a reliable, all-weather, 13,000 sq. ft. training environment that keeps our livestock and students safe, while staying true to a realistic working embryo transfer operation. Our classroom is conveniently located indoors with temperature-controlled interiors, so students can engage with the material in a comfortable — but still representative — learning environment.
Farming and cattle ranching is complex and comes with real risk. Success takes significant capital, along with a range of practical and management know-how. To truly master the art of cattle production, direct onsite experience is essential — and there's no better way to learn than working alongside experienced farm operators, under the mentorship of skilled instructors. That's how students build core skills, gain real confidence, and form relationships that last well beyond the classroom.
Our outdoor facilities offer a unique educational experience that's both engaging and realistic. This is a real working farm, built around functional, interactive, hands-on training in embryo transfer, artificial insemination, and embryo implantation.
During our 6-day course, students handle approximately 75-100 head of cattle. Our hydraulic chutes secure cattle safely and securely, so students can practice embryo transfers hands-on — without harm or issues to our four-legged friends. In the fields, students also get to observe surrogate mothers and calves, giving a complete picture of how embryo technology plays out in real time, from procedure to result.

Learn From Real Experience, Not Just Theory
Every course at Murder Creek is led personally by our instructors — no rotating staff, no hired hands. Just the people who run this farm every day, teaching you what actually works.
Dr. Jason Gress, DVM
Dr. Jason Gress graduated from Mississippi State University in 2006 and has been a full-time veterinarian ever since, with an emphasis on cattle — both beef and dairy — and an increasing focus on reproduction. Shortly after graduating, Jason began developing his own herd of fullblood Simmentals, establishing Vantage Point Farm in Boonsboro, Maryland. The farm was built strictly through artificial insemination and embryo transfer. He also brought those same skills into his veterinary practice at Mid Maryland Dairy Veterinarians, where he was one of five owners.
In 2016, Jason returned to Mississippi, where he, his wife, and their two daughters joined Little Creek Farm, established by Dr. Mikell Davis. He took over the cattle and farm operations while building an embryo transfer client base of his own. Jason and his wife have since assumed full ownership of the farm and herd.
Beyond the Southeast, Jason has also provided large-animal veterinary services with a focus on reproduction in California and Illinois. He earned his AETA certification in 2018 and continues to apply that expertise from his base in the Southeast, with locations in both Alabama and Mississippi — offering conventional flush and embryo transfer services while maintaining proficiency in OPU (ovum pick-up).
Today, Jason spends much of his time on the farm with his wife, continuing to improve herd quality while helping other cattle producers — and local college students interested in farming and veterinary work — build their own skills. They also provide backgrounding services for a herd of purebred Angus cattle.
While farming is their day-to-day focus, Jason and his wife hold an even higher priority: their faith, and their desire to live a life of purpose.
